Paddlers For Humanity presented by QuiksilverEdition
Sept. 13 – 14, 2008
With a series of ocean adventures Paddlers for Humanity, based in East Hampton, New York, has quietly been raising money and awareness for a variety of non-profit organizations focusing on community, education and health. Now QuiksilverEdition is proud to help sponsor Paddlers for Humanity’s flagship event: a fundraising paddle from Montauk Point to Block Island, a distance of 18 miles. The four benefiting charities will be the Children’s Learning Center of East Hampton, Miracle House, Montauk Community Playhouse and Surfaid. First held in 2005, the annual, all-volunteer grassroots paddle/adventure has raised over $300,000 in directly solicited sponsorship funds and this year will include a second 9-mile course to encourage more participants. The paddle will be open to kayaks, paddleboards and, for the very first time, a stand-up paddle division.
